Chart configuration

A chart configuration consists of four types of elements: Filters, Dimensions, Measures and Chart type.

• Filters are used to select the items you wish to examine (for example all items in a specific sprint).

• Dimensions are used to group items by some property (for example Bug Severity or Assigned User)

• Measures specify which properties you wish to measure per item (for example Work Remaining).

•Chart type specifies the visual representation used for the chart (e.g bar, pie, line or table).

For example, consider that you wish to create a bar chart showing the number of bugs tagged to a specific release per severity level. The configuration of this chart would be:

Filter: A report selecting all QA bugs tagged to the release in question

Dimension: Sprint / Iterations and Status completion

Measure: Number of items

Chart type: Bar

A chart can use more than one dimension or measure. Consider now that we want to change the chart to show the number of bugs assigned to each user of each severity for the specified release. This can be accomplished by adding the Assigned to dimension before the Severity dimension:

Filter: A report selecting all QA bugs tagged to the release in question

Dimension: Assigned to, Severity

Measure: Number of items

Chart type: Bar
