Find scheduled tasks that are late, at risk, on time and on the critical path

This article covers how to identify the task status using reports to understand if scheduled tasks are late, at risk, on time and on the critical path.

Prerequisite: A basic understanding of how to create reports in Hansoft: https://support.hansoft.com/hc/en-us/articles/204730011-Creating-and-sharing-reports

Here is a simplified plan that we will use for the examples:

Identify tasks that are overdue

  1. In the planning view, go to More > Manage reports..
  2. Create a New report
  3. Add a report criteria for Item type = Scheduled task
  4. Add the report criteria for Scheduled Condition - Overdue

Identify tasks that are at risk

  1. In the planning view, go to More > Manage reports..
  2. Create a New report
  3. Add a report criteria for Item type = Scheduled task
  4. Add the report criteria for Finish to From today to 3 days in the future. Note: Change the 3 days to any number that makes the most sense to consider a task at risk.
  5. Add a report criteria Status Completion and filter on Completed. Convert this to an excluding criteria. (the goal is to remove all completed tasks)

Identify tasks that are on track

  1. In the planning view, go to More > Manage reports..
  2. Create a New report
  3. Add a report criteria for Item type = Scheduled task
  4. Add the report criteria for Finish to From today to 100 days in the future. This is to ensure we are not getting any late tasks.
  5. Add the report criteria for Finish to From today to 3 days in the future. Convert this to an excluding criteria. This is to separate it from the tasks At risk. Note: Change the 3 days to any number that makes the most sense to consider a task at risk.
  6. Add a report criteria Status Completion and filter on Completed. Convert this to an excluding criteria. (the goal is to remove all completed tasks)

Identify tasks that are on the critical path

  1. In the planning view, go to More > Manage reports..
  2. Create a New report
  3. Add a report criteria for Item type = Scheduled task
  4. Add the report criteria for Scheduled Condition - Critical path
